The Mission

Welcome to The Humble Woman Journal. The Mission is to embodying the feminine genius to emphasize faith, love and the Good News of Jesus Christ through the strength of Mary’s Example, the Profound Words of Scripture and the rich Traditions of the Catholic Church. I seek to strive to stay true to Christ on a path of faith, grace, and fullness of life while inspiring others to be on fire for Christ.

I wanted to start off by sharing what Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) stated in regards to Mary as this is what has started this new undertaking. — The “yes” of a woman to God’s plan for her life has changed the course of human history. The most important event in all history, God’s becoming man, took place in the history of the human race through a remarkably young woman. Mary is the model for those who follow her and who seek to change the world, helping it to grow in faith and love. Mary is the archetype that reveals how, on a path of faith, grace, and fullness of life, the strength of a woman is of utmost importance in the life of society as a whole — regardless of race, nationality, or social status — as well as in the educational and missionary task of the Church today, which is a Church that is constantly growing in her maternal role and attention towards humanity and life itself, finding in the feminine sensibility a new and unique manner of facing the needs of mankind in this present millennium. Mary, as the Servant of God John Paul II has described her, is the highest expression of the “feminine genius”: placing herself at God’s service, and believing without seeing, she has placed herself at the service of all mankind. Observing her, the message she bears, and the example of her life, can shed new light on the thought and role of the woman in the Third Millennium, especially in the family, society, and in the working world. Reading about the life of Mary and discovering how God’s plan for mankind has unfolded through her, beginning with Genesis, in Adam and Eve, our attention is drawn to a crucial point: there is no longer a struggle for supremacy and power between man and woman, but rather, a relationship of mutual respect and union in faith in the One God.

I love this. It highlights what we as women can do to further the Kingdom of God in a way only a woman can. The phrase “feminine genius” is attributed to John Paul II, but the concept is outlined in some exhortations of Pope Pius XII, in particular to the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations (1957). The Second Vatican Council further elaborated on the timeliness of the definitively feminine contributions to society. Yet the most comprehensive summation of the meaning of womanhood in light of this “hour” of history is Mulieris Dignitatem (On the Dignity and Vocation of Women). Promulgated by John Paul on the feast of the Assumption in the Marian year of 1988, Mulieris is a reflection on the spiritual and moral strength of the woman. The Pope further reflected on the subject in his 1995 Letter to Women, which addressed the challenge of contemporary feminism—and offered a warning about forms of feminist ideology that are more destructive than constructive.

It is clear that the Church sees an almost startling importance in feminine attributes and their potential to build a culture of life, and Mulieris offers women practical ways to apply their feminine genius to the world around them. Four.aspects of that genius are key to the feminine battle plan to “aid humanity in not falling”: receptivity, sensitivity, generosity, and maternity.

In my next post i will share more on these four aspects. Till then God Speed!
